Background:
The purpose-built school opened in 1981 and occupies a modern brick built single-storey building, with wheelchair access to the classroom areas. There is a large tarmac playground on two sides of the building and extensive playing fields surround the school. Nearby is Holley Park with mature woodland after which the school is named. Health education is an 'important part of the curriculum' and the school has a Healthy School Award. There are a variety of extra curricular clubs including recorder playing, healthy heart club, football, netball and cross country, choir and drama. Over the last few years the school has won awards for athletics, cross country, football and swimming. All pupils have the opportunity during Years 5 and 6 to visit a residential activity centre for a weekend or five day visit. Over the past few years the school has supported the Yellow Brick Road charity. There is an 'active' school council on which all year groups are represented and the school is well supported by its friends of the school association, which raises money and organises social and educational events throughout the year.
