Background:

Seaton Burn Community College is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form with adult and community facilities. It was built between 1974 and 1980 with major extensions added in 1994. The college is situated on an attractive green field site between Seaton Burn and Dudley. It has four computer rooms fully networked with work stations, two of which have the latest multi-media machines and a learning resource centre which has excellent access being open to students before-school, at lunchtime and after-school for reading, research or homework. The college offers a wide range of sporting activities including traditional team sports such as hockey, football, netball, rugby, basketball, tennis and cricket, as well as individual sports such as athletics, gymnastics and dance. It has also established links with a number of local sports club. The college has a comprehensive programme of outdoor pursuits and activities such as hill-walking, navigation, climbing, canoeing, skiing, mountain biking, wind-surfing, sailing and camping are available throughout the year. It has an outstanding reputation for its musical productions and concerns. The college has achieved the prestigious Investor in People award.
