Background:
St Agnes' Catholic Primary School is situated in the village of Crawcrook, West of Gateshead. Its main building dated from 1932 and refurbishment of school playing areas has transformed outdoor environment. The school teaches modern foreign language and provides variety of after-school clubs in arts, sports and out-of-school-hours sports. It also has strong links with parish and local community. Pupils' raise funds for Catholic and local charities. The school has won many awards such as Artsmark Silver (2005), Basic Skills Quality Mark (2005) and DfES Achievement Award (2000, 2001). 'A positive and caring ethos, where every child matters. The school is where individuals are valued and visitors are made to feel welcomed. The expectatinos of staff, governors and parents are high, and there is an excellent team spirit'.
