Background:
St Wilfrid's was formed in 1976 as a result of the merging of three existent Secondary Modern Schools: St Cuthbert's, St Bede's Boys and St Bede's Girls. The school has gained a new technology block and improvements have been made to drama, maths and ICT facilities. Further major building is planned. The school is the site for the South Tyneside City Learning Centre with a multi-million building housing state of art technology opened in September 2002. The school is a Christian community where respect and cooperation are reflected in everything it does.
