Background:

Hylton Red House Primary is a co-educational community primary day school for boys and girls of all abilities from four to 11 years of age. A language unit is based at the school, which caters for children with speech and language difficulties. The school offers various sports clubs which include netball, football, gymnastics and rugby. A variety of other clubs are also available including guitar group, ocarina group, art club, ICT club, writing club and chess club. Apart from the usual summer educational visits, the school also provides various educational visits throughout the year. The school received a DfES achievement award for three consecutive years between 1999 and 2002, and also holds two Basic Skills Quality Mark awards for basic skills teaching, the silver Healthy Schools award, the Quality in Study Support award and the Investor in People award. The school'strives to create a safe, happy, responsible and well-ordered community, in which children can develop and be valued as individuals.
