Background:

Waterville Primary School, formely known a Western County Primary School, was established in 1981, following the amalgamation of Western Infant and Western Junior Schools. Both of the schools had moved into new buildings in 1976 and for many years served the local community. The new school has a central hall, library, several activity areas, a computer suite and a number of teaching classrooms. The playground and school field are spacious and landscaped to provide a stimulating play environment for the children. The school aims to involve the children in a broad, balanced and meaningful curriculum appropriate to the age and ability of the child. All the children are encouraged to sing and to appreciate, listen to and enjoy music. Children are introduced to a range of instruments beginning with percussion. The school aims to provide a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment suited to the needs of the school community where pupils can achieve, be successful and equipped with life-long learning skills.
