Background:
The school is housed in a modern building, maintained to a 'high level' and built in 1974. It is set in a rural location with open aspects onto farmland on three sides and a housing estate on the fourth. Bournmoor village is situated next to the Lambton Estate where Lord Lambton still resides and which has a mixture of housing including new developments. The school is proud of its 'high standards' in art and performance arts. It offers a range of after-school clubs which might include French, art, sport and Norwegian club. Pupils are taken to France and Teesdale annually. The school is 'actively involved' in the local community and takes part in litter picks, tree planting and carol concerts in the church. It also regularly raises money for charity. The school recently received a School Achievement Award for Excellence by the DfES.
