Background:
Longbenton Community College is a highly regarded, well established community technology college delivering a high quality education to students in the 11 to 18 age range as well as members of the adult community. The school has an impressive range of clubs and activities that are offered to the student. This includes youth hostel trips, sailing expeditions and foreign visits. Recent trips abroad include visits to Berlin, Paris, First World War battlefields and New York as well as regular ski-ing trips to Italy. A variety of sporting activities are also offered to pupils at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include athletics, cross-country, karate, chess, mathematics, badminton, tennis, netball and basketball. The school aims to provide a safe, secure and caring environment.
